The xs4all ipv6 tunnel kept having traffic for two reasons:
  • Some external nameserver probes kept remembering the old address for ns2.idefix.net for a good three months after I changed it.
  • One nntp peer did not pick up the move
I noticed this week that the traffic through the tunnel was dying out so I did a tcpdump of the traffic and it was all nntp. I tested whether I could disable that special route yet and that worked.

Finally, all traffic is migrated to native IPv6 and I can start shutting down the tunnel service after 9 years and 2 months.
