2023-01-21 2022 in amateur radio for me
QSO count for PE4KH until December 2022 Time for an overview of what happened in amateur radio in 2022 for me. Like previous years I will look back at the plans and what happened. Looking back at Closing 2021 in amateur radio the following results are clear:
  • The morse exam finally happened and I passed it.
  • More morse contacts in contests and in general
  • 18 new countries/entities in the log
  • More countries/entities in morse in the log
  • Satellite contacts: none
  • Used the improving propagation
The plans for 2023:
  • Try to get more countries/entities, especially in morse. I am working towards DXCC in morse: 100 entities confirmed.
And one thing is both a result of 2022 and an item for 2023: I ordered a new radio: a Yaesu FT-911A, HF, VHF, UHF all mode at the end of 2022 and it was delivered last week. That will be a separate post.

More detailed statistics over 2022

Always nice to look at the more detailed statistics of my log.

By month

Months with morse contests are a new influence on my yearly statistics. May had the King of Spain CW contest and the CQ WPX CW contest, July had the IARU-HF contest, November the LZ-DX contest and the CQ-WW DX CW contest. At the same time the digital contests count too, in January the UBA PSK63 contest and in April the EA RTTY contest.

By band

A clear influence of having access to the 80 meter band (and 160 meter band) via the remote station, mostly used for the WRTC 2022 award. I also tried to get new contacts on 17 meter as propagation allows for contacts in that band during the day.

By mode

Here the influence of the morse training and morse contesting is showing clearly. 44% of the total contacts is in morse. A lot of those are contest contacts so they are ultra short.
