Jopen is a Dutch brewery from Haarlem and they offer a number of beers.
This time I ran into an IPA from Jopen and decided to give it a try. It's
light in hop taste for an IPA, or my tastebuds are getting used to hops.
Amber colour, good taste.
Grolsch is one of my choices for 'standard' Pilsener beer. So I keep an eye
for the available special beers. This time I saw Grolsch Puur Weizen
available and decided to give it a try.
It's a slightly hoppy taste, and I can appreciate this. Nothing too strong in
the taste. Grolsch follows the German Weizen style including the
Reinheitsgebot. This beer does taste slightly different from what I would
expect from a German Weizen. Grolsch themselves name it clove, I agree to
the taste going in that direction. I wouldn't expect that in a German Weizen.
There is a lot of special beer available in the Netherlands too. I checked
what was available in the local supermarket and found this one:
Brand krachtig blond.
By colour it is indeed a blonde beer, but by taste it was quite hoppy, almost
like an IPA.
This time a Dutch beer, from the south of The Netherlands. The Gulpener brewery
is indeed in Gulpen, the Netherlands and that is one of the southernmost places
in the Netherlands.
It's an IPA with biological and local ingredients, and with the name 'ur-hop
IPA' I expected an overload of hop taste. But that's not true, I think I
have tasted IPA beers with a stronger hop taste compared to this beer.
Again something from our local supermarket. A dark color Belgian dubbel.
A slight hoppy taste, not strong. In the brown Grolsch beugel bottle, which
is a return to several years ago!
Looking for some special beers for new year's eve I found this at the local
supermarket. I know 'standard' Guinness since we used to drink that on holidays
in England, but I had no idea what to expect from this beer. Time for the
experiment.
In taste it's a reminder of Guinness, but not as 'creamy' as Guinness. A bit
more nuance in taste.
Yet another import from our snowboard holiday in Austria.
The beer today is a Frastanzer s'dunkle. As the name suggests, a dark beer.
With a good head of foam when poured correctly. The taste has a bit of a
sweet note and has hops, but not as strong as other beers. A nice beer, good
to bring from Austria or find at a store with lots of choice in beers.
Not imported from very far, just from the local supermarket.
Again an Indian Pale Ale. There is something about that taste that I like.
This one doesn't have a very 'hoppy' taste like some other IPA beers.
I would describe the color as a light amber. Almost blonde.
Yet another import from our snowboard holiday in Austria.
This time I'm drinking Frastanzer Gold Spezial. When poured correctly it looks
very German with a big foamy head. Not too pronounced taste, a good beer to
drink.
I bought a few Frastanzer beers on our snowboard holiday in Austria.
The first one to try is "Frastanzer s'honig" which is a beer made from
biological ingredients with indeed a bit of added honey. Not too much, it's
not too sweet for my taste. The honey gives the beer a soft side in taste
without losing the strength from hops completely.
