I just found out the tool I still use for safekeeping of passwords on my Palm Tungsten, strip was a really outdated version: 0.5 which had an irritating bug (editing an entry was the same as deleting it). But it still exists: Secure Tool for Remembering Important Passwords strip for the Palm. Upgraded to something newer and indeed the bug is gone.
